The Biographical Information series (.4 linear feet) documents the period from 1942 to 2002. Included in this series are photographs from Johnson's early years in Africa, images taken while he studied at Oberlin, and pictures of him and his family, including his granddaughter. There are also records documenting his study at Sierra Leone Grammar School, Oberlin College, and the University of Michigan, including the August 1969 commencement program and the program awarding his faculty recognition award in 1984.

Of most significance are the transcripts of oral interviews with Franklin conducted by his biographer, Jeff Titon. These interviews were made in 1976 and 1977 and contain excellent information about Franklin's life. Also included here are transcripts made by Titon of several of Franklin's sermons.
