The Bentley Historical Library houses the Michigan Historical collections, which documents the history of Michigan; and the University Archives and Records Program, which maintains the historical record of the University of Michigan. Founded in 1935 as the Michigan Historical Collections, directors of the library include Lewis G. Vander Velde, F. Clever Bald, Robert M. Warner, Francis X. Blouin, Jr., and Terrence J. McDonald. The records include administrative files, correspondence, meeting materials, files on exhibits, archived websites, images, audio-visual media, and documentation of special projects such as the Vatican Archives project.

The records of the Bentley Historical Library were received in six main accessions 1991, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2007 and 2014. Together the records comprise 79 linear feet, plus two oversize boxes, and oversize folder, three flat file drawers, and more than 16 GB of data spanning the years 1935-2014. The researcher should consult the summary box list on page vii for a quick overview of the materials in the collection.

University of Michigan inter-disciplinary, area studies and resource center. Records relating to the administration of and the programs supported by the Center, including information on funding, courses, exchange programs, publicity, and affiliated activity; audio and video tapes of presentation and lectures; and various publications.

The records for the Center for Russian and East European Studies (CREES) document an array of activities that the center has been involved with since its inception and includes administrative files, audio and visual material, clippings, press releases, proposals, publications, and subject files. Records from the 1980s to the 1990s make up the bulk of this record group. The documents reflect how the Center has grown and become active not just at the university level, but also at a global level. The financial, global, and business ties that CREES has worked hard to cultivate can be traced through this record group. The way those ties developed as well as the many other interests of the center will be of interest to researchers.

Widely published and award winning Detroit born Polish-American author whose life is at the heart of her poetry, diaries, and publications. The collection primarily consists of correspondence between Pacosz, certain family members, and associates; diaries highlighting pivotal events in her life; creative works; publicity materials; family and biographical information; and photographs.

The Christina V. Pacosz papers gives the researcher an insight into the works and mind of an American born Polish poet. This collection, in which the files are arranged chronologically, spans the years 1899-2019, with the majority of the materials reflecting the years 1961-2012.

The collection comprises of correspondence between Pacosz, her literary cohorts, and family members; published and unpublished anthologies, manuscripts, and poetry; biographical and genealogical records pertaining to Pacosz and her family; works created by her students; personal diaries; photographs of herself, family, and colleagues. The collection also comprises of publicity and research materials.

Publications produced by the College of Engineering and some of its academic departments and administrative units as student organizations. Includes annual reports, briefing papers, brochures and pamphlets, bulletins and college catalogs, calendars of college events, histories, manuals, newsletters, programs, proposals, reports, songbooks, and statistics.

The College of Engineering Publications consist of printed and born-digital material produced by the College of Engineering and some of its academic departments, administrative units and student organizations. Publications of some academic departments are cataloged separately. This collection includes:

The College of Engineering Publications are divided into five series; Unit Publications, Sub-Unit Publications, Topical Publications, Student Publications; and Chronologically Arranged Publications.

The Unit Publications series contains printed material published specifically by the College of Engineering. These publications are defined as being widely distributed and may be published at regular intervals. They are arranged by genre of the publication.

The Sub-Unit Publications series contains publications from subordinate offices, departments, programs, laboratories and organizations within the College of Engineering. These publications are arranged alphabetically by the creating sub-unit.

The Topical Publications series includes publications which document specific events or activities such as anniversary celebrations, convocations, faculty awards or memorials, graduation exercises, or one-time conferences hosted by the College of Engineering.

The Student Publications series contains publications published by student groups within the College of Engineering. The specific student organizations are arranged alphabetically by name of the organization.

To expedite access to the College of Engineering publications, all materials received after 2017 are added to the collection in chronological order by the year of publication within the Chronologically Arranged Publications series. The series contains Unit, Sub-Unit, Topical, and Student publications.

Includes bibliographies, pamphlets, bulletins and college catalogs, histories, manuals such as Drugs and Pharmacy, newsletters such as the College of Pharmacy Newsletter, posters, proceedings and programs. David J. Brophy was a University of Michigan professor of finance in the Stephen M. Ross School of Business. He was also director of the university's Center for Venture Capital and Private Equity Finance as well as founder and director of the Growth Capital Symposium, later known as the Michigan Growth Capital Symposium and the Midwest Growth Capital Symposium (both MGCS). This collection documents the various Growth Capital symposia and primarily consists of brochures, conference information books, correspondence, notes, pamphlets, and promotional materials. Also included are audiovisual materials that document the Growth Capital symposia, lectures, National Association of Small Business Investment Companies (NASBIC) events, and the University of Texas at Austin's Moot Corp Competition.

The David Brophy papers primarily document the various Growth Capital symposia (GCS) and consist largely of information books distributed to conference attendees, brochures, correspondence, notes, pamphlets, and promotional materials. The material is dated from 1984-2019, although materials related to the 1996, 2000, and 2001 conferences are absent.

Information books make up the bulk of this collection. Each book typically contains an agenda, a welcome letter, sponsor information and advertisements, speaker biographies, and profiles of companies—including university spinouts—seeking financial sponsorship from investors. The kind of information presented in each profile is varied, but often includes a description of the speaker and company, a brief description of key personnel, products or services, relevant market as well as competition information, financial highlights, and capital needs. Companies that are seeking investment include those relating to automotive technology; clean technology; information technology (IT), including healthcare IT; medical devices; and software. The collection also includes a small amount of material—primarily information books—related to the Florida Growth Capital Symposium, Iowa Growth Capital Symposium, and European Growth Capital Symposium. Unless otherwise explicitly noted in the finding aid, however, the bulk of the materials in this collection relate to the Growth Capital Symposium (GCS)—later known as the Michigan Growth Capital Symposium and the Midwest Growth Capital Symposium (both MGCS)—that was held in Michigan.

The collection also includes audiovisual materials that document the Growth Capital symposia, lectures delivered by speakers such as Dr. Brophy and former Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, National Association of Small Business Investment Companies (NASBIC) events, and the University of Texas at Austin's Moot Corp Competition (now known as the Venture Labs Investment Competition).

National dental fraternity founded at University of Michigan. Constitution and by-laws, minutes, financial records, fraternity newsletter, memorabilia and artifacts, textbooks, citations and plaques, photographs, and miscellaneous manuscripts.

The records of Delta Sigma Delta provide an interesting view into the organization of a professional fraternity, and into the activities and personalities of those individuals drawn to such a social organization. Because it is such a visual collection, with many photographs, scrapbooks, and artefactual items, the Delta Sigma Delta collection provides a varied source of information about the affairs of a distinguished professional fraternity.

The Delta Sigma Delta collection includes both the records of the fraternity as well as related materials collected over the years by fraternity historian, Dr. Frank O. Clifford, and as such, there is a wide diversity of materials spanning more than a century of activity, 1882 to 1992.

The records of Delta Sigma Delta, at the request of the fraternity, are divided between those records stored archivally and other materials on display in the Delta Sigma Delta Room of the library. This finding aid will describe both sets of records with indications where they might be found.

Publications produced the University of Michigan Department of English Language and Literature, its sub-units and student organizations, including newsletters, anthologies, reports, histories, flyers and posters.

The Department of English Language and Literature Publications, (1.8 linear feet) include brochures, flyers, newsletters, and posters as well as student publications and faculty publications, dating from the years 1942 to 2017. There are four series: Unit Publications, Sub-Unit Publications, Student Publications and Topical Publications.

Originally founded in 1970 as the Safety Department, the Division of Public Safety and Security (DPSS) is the university's public safety and law enforcement unit. The collection consists of digital Clery Act reports from 2006-2020 (with gaps).

This collection contains digital copies of the University of Michigan's Campus Safety Handbook, Annual Security Report and Annual Fire Safety Report, and Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. These documents—also known as Clery Act reports—were published between 2006-2020 (with gaps). They include crime statistics in the previous three years, safety tips, and information about various health and safety agencies, laws, policies, programs, regulations, resources, and services. Beginning in 2010, these reports also included fire safety information and statistics.
