Political Campaigns documents Byington's involvement in Michigan and national politics from his entrée as George Romney's 1964 gubernatorial campaign manager to his position as executive director of Nixon's Young Civic Leaders. Romney campaign material includes replies to constituent letters requesting campaign paraphernalia and offering campaign support. Byington's memoranda also outline campaign strategies. Documents from the Nixon campaign provide evidence of Byington's involvement with Young Civic Leaders, a campaign program which recruited young, influential citizens to be Nixon spokespeople in their home states or counties.
