This microfilm edition of the records of the Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce covers the years 1887 to 1946 and includes board of directors minutes, committee minutes and reports, newsletters and other material documenting the Chamber's efforts on behalf of civic and local economic improvements. The microfilmed records are organized into six series: Early Records; Minutes of the Directors' Meetings; Miscellaneous Committee Minutes; Miscellaneous Committee Reports; Committee of 100; and Newsletters.

The record group is organized into three series: Organizational Records; Scrapbooks and other informational material; and School Records. Included are articles of incorporation and minutes; student registers and alumni rosters; performance records of students; student and teacher's notebooks, mostly those of Clara Wheeler; patterns and other teaching devices; financial records, and scrapbooks containing photographs of teachers, students, and facilities.

The records of the Grand Rapids Urban League document its activities as a civil rights and social service organization serving the African-American community in Grand Rapids. The records have been arranged into four series: Historical/Background Material, Administration Records, Topical Files, and Photographs. The series date from the organization's founding in 1943 up to the mid-1980s. There are numerous gaps in the files with the bulk of the records dating before 1970.
Grand Valley State Colleges Oral History Project, 1976-1977

Oral history project undertaken by Professor John Tevebaugh of Grand Valley State Colleges in 1976. The focus of the interviews was the history of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Interviewees included longtime residents of the city, church, business, and community leaders, as well as representatives of Grand Rapids ethnic groups. The interviews were subsequently used as the basis for a WUOM radio series entitled, "Fitzgerald's Prophecy." There are currently no transcripts for the interviews. There are, however, notes made from some of the interviews. These interview notes include individuals for whom there are no extant tapes.
Grandville-Jenison Congregational Church (Grandville, Mich.) records, 1838-1936

The record group includes records of the individual churches. Records of the First Congregational Church of Grandville include minutes and membership lists, 1838-1934, minutes of the Congregational Society, 1863-1891, and of the Sunday School, 1868-1885 and 1908. Records of the Jenison Congregational Church include minutes and membership records, 1903-1936. Other records include articles of association, historical notes, and miscellaneous correspondence, notices, and receipts.
Grant Applications
The Applications series dates from 1965 to 1989 and consists of grant applications, and material relating to the preparation of grants, including research outlines, budgets, award notices, and correspondence with the granting agency. The application records include five-year grants which provided the majority of the funding, and several competing and non-competing renewal grant applications. The annual reports prepared as part of the grant process are to be found in the Printed Materials series which is described at the end of this section.

The Grant K. Goodman collection documents the establishment and daily operations of the Army Intensive Japanese Language School (AIJLS), operating on the University of Michigan campus during World War II, as well as Goodman's later efforts to organize AIJLS reunions. The files are divided into seven series, and consist of papers, photographs and AV materials: Army Intensive Japanese Language School, Correspondence, "Nips in the Bud," Photographs, Publicity, "Random Recollections of the Second Class, AIJLS", and Videotapes.
