Papers collected in the Netherlands under the auspices of the Immigration Sources Project of the Michigan Historical Collections. Copies of letters and other materials of Dutch immigrants to Michigan written to friends and relatives in the Netherlands.

The collection of photocopied letters has been arranged alphabetically by the name of the city in Michigan which was home to the immigrant family, and thereafter by family name of. Most of these cities were in western Michigan.

Project established by the Michigan Historical Collections of the University of Michigan to survey archival records relating to the study of immigration in the Netherlands, Poland, Finland, Ireland, and Michigan. Administrative files.

The project files include population data, notes, lists, questionnaires, and correspondence.

I. M. Weston

The Isaac M. Weston portion of the collection consists of three subseries of papers documenting the business and political career of I.M. Weston. 1. Correspondence, 1859-1899, concerning business and personal interests, and containing papers relating to his association with the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893; 2. Topical files, ca. 1870-1898, relating to business and financial affairs, the Columbian Exposition, and legal matters; and 3. Business records, 1862-1895, consisting of bound ledgers and accounts, files of property transactions (largely unsorted), and personal bound records, including personal scrapbooks and scrapbooks relating to the 1893 Exposition.

This collection is comprised of group portraits of Sunday School on the church steps (ca. 1916) with Pastor Holm and his wife at center of the top row; Danish Young People's Society outing (1922); and meeting of the Dansk sammensluttet ungdom (Danish American Young People's League) (1926).

Reminiscence of Robert Dawson, a soldier in the Royal Scots who served in Archangel, Russia, 1918-1919, and later taken prisoner by the Bolsheviks.

The reminiscence (41 p., photocopy) details his capture, stays in hospital, observations of the Russian people, buildings, social customs, and his subsequent release.

Administrative records, publicity items, event flyers, newspaper clipping, as well as audiovisual recordings of events.

The collection consists of the IASA constitution, board member listings, flyers, annual event programs, clippings from the Michigan Daily, a sound recording of music from and a video recording of the 1998 culture show interspersed with skits from members of the IASA.
