Julie Peterson Files
The Julie Peterson Files (1989-2003) consist of records created and collected by Julie Peterson, who served as the Associate Vice President for Media Relations and Public Affairs under the Vice President for Communications. This series covers a wide range of issues within higher education and the media. Records within this series also reflect the close work between Peterson and a number of U-M units, including development, government relations, student affairs and the general counsel, as well as the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Health System. In addition, Peterson served as the primary liaison for regional and national media representatives, as a senior adviser to administrators and faculty, and as an official University spokesperson on news and policy matters. She also worked to build communications teams with campus partners, including the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, the Health System, and the Department of Public Safety, among others.
