Meetings and Reports, 1986-1988

The Meetings and Reports (1 linear ft.) series, spanning 1986-1988, has been sorted chronologically. It contains the project proposal to the NSF. It also contains several files about various site visits taken to Carnegie Mellon, Cambridge, and the NSF. Electronic mail (printed out) correspondence is in this series. Also in this series are technical reviews, project plans, and meeting minutes of the development team.

Melvin R. Gilmore papers, 1905-1940, undated

Melvin Randolph Gilmore was one of the preeminent ethnobotanists of his generation and served as Curator of Ethnology for the Museum of Anthropology at the University of Michigan from 1929 to 1939. The Gilmore Papers contain correspondence, topical files, field notes, photographs, and manuscripts related to his work among Native American groups of the Plains and Prairies, including the Arikara and the Omaha.

The Melvin R. Gilmore Papers consist of three series: Correspondence; Research, Writing, and Field Work; and Photographs. With the exception of the Correspondence series, much of the material in the papers is undated, but appears to date mainly from 1905 to 1930.

Memorial Book, 1919-2012

The Memorial Book series contains a memorial scrapbook created by Falk's family after his death to honor his life and memory. The book features a narrative about his childhood, wartime experiences and post-war life in Milford, Michigan. Much of the narrative information was compiled from an interview with Falk's sister Eva in 2012. The collection includes both a print version of the book, as well as digital copies of each page of the book.

The records of the Men's Glee Club date from 1886 to 2012 and were received in several major accessions. The first accession, covering 1886-1985 and 1991, includes four linear feet of manuscript, printed, and photographic material as well as posters, scrapbooks, and sound recordings in a variety of formats. The first accession has been divided into five series: Chronological File, Philip A. Duey Material, Photographs, Sound Recordings, Scrapbooks, and Archived Website.

The 1995 accession of the records of the Men's Glee Club were comprised of two linear feet of correspondence, photographs, and topical files ranging from 1919 to 1994. Items of particular interest include a folder of historical writings, which provides anecdotes, reflections, and facts about the club prepared for an exhibit on club history. The Press Releases folder is also of note, as it reflects information given out by the club to newspapers and other media of the towns they visited. Both of these folders are found in the Topical series. The records of this accession are divided into 3 series: Correspondence, Topical, and Visual Materials.

The 2010 accession to the University of Michigan Men's Glee Club records is organized into one series. The Sound Recordings series, 1952-1987, (10 linear feet) is comprised of University of Michigan Men's Glee Club concert recordings, including its annual fall and spring concert series. Many of the boxes of tape reel also include a concert program and concert set list.

The 2012 accession consisted entirely of digital materials (scanned images, audio files, video files, and still images) that added content to the Chronological Files series and established a China Concert Tour series. The 2018 accession consisted of phonograph records, which have been added to the Sound Recordings series, and publications.

Advocacy organization started in 1937 to promote awareness of mental health issues and lobby for patient rights. The record group documents the evolution of mental health care and legislative and organizational efforts to improve the field.

The record group includes correspondence, mailing, board and committee files, reports, files on annual meetings and regional meetings and workshops, MHAM publications and newsletters, and photographs. Merit Network, Inc. records, 1966-2002

Merit (once an acronym for Michigan Educational Research Information Triad) was an organization developed to research the effects of connecting large research universities together by means of a computer network. Officially established in 1966 and still operating today, Merit contributed greatly to networking and the growth and expansion of the Internet. Most of the materials in the Merit record group documents Merit's early growth and development in the 1960s through Merit's post-NSFNET involvement in the late 1990s. Correspondence, project contracts and proposals, meeting minutes, and administrative records make up the bulk of the records.

Includes group portraits of staff and students as well as views of the camp; photos of the construction of Hardy Dam on the Muskegon River, near Oxbow, Michigan; and a photo of a parade and Liberty Bond rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Merriam Family Papers, 1914-1964

The papers of the Merriam family of Grand Rapids and Holland, Michigan, reflect chiefly the business activities and leisure time interests of Warren Sturtevant Merriam, plant manager of Baker Furniture, Inc. of Holland and member of the Macatawa Bay Yacht Club. There is also some material concerning his father, the Reverend Charles Wolcott Merriam, his mother, Julia Sturtevant Merriam, and his wife, Helen Bell Merriam.
