Norris family of Ypsilanti and Grand Rapids, Michigan. Papers of Mark Norris, Ypsilanti businessman and postmaster; papers of his wife, Roccena Vaill Norris, local teacher and woman's rights advocate; papers of their son, Lyman, attorney and regent of the University of Michigan, 1883-1884; papers of Lyman's son, Mark Norris, Grand Rapids attorney and Grand Master of the Knights Templar in the United States; papers of Lyman's daughter Maria Norris, Grand Rapids physician; papers of Mark's son, Abbott Norris; and related papers of other family members, notably the Whittelsey family of Connecticut.

The Norris family papers consists of three linear feet of correspondence, business papers, and scrapbooks. The bulk of the papers are letters among various family members which contain a wealth of information about 19th century daily life, social conditions, business affairs, and local and state politics. This collection is especially useful in researching: women's history; Norris family and kinship interrelationships; early area settlement and local history; university student life at the University of Michigan and elsewhere; 19th century economic conditions and political issues; and 20th century Freemasonry.

Detroit area Scandinavian-American civic organization; organizational records; files relating to Scandinavian-American history, organizations, and personages.

The Norse Civic Association records consist of organizational records and files relating to Scandinavian-American history, organizations, and personages. The records have been divided into the following series: Organizational materials; Correspondence and other papers; Minutes; Other records; Collected historical materials; and Research files of Christian Feddersen on Scandinavians in Michigan.

Association of student cooperative houses and stores. Administrative correspondence, collected materials from various colleges and universities; conference files, and photographs.

The records of the North American Student Cooperative League cover the administration life of the organization, roughly 1946 to 1968, with scattered earlier and later materials. The records were accumulated and donated by the Inter-Cooperative Council of the University of Michigan and by the Co-operative League of the U.S.A. which at one time must have had custody of the records following the organization's demise.

The record group is organized into the following series: Correspondence; Cooperative League of the U.S.A.; Studies, surveys, and reports; Published material; Local groups (minutes and publications); Miscellaneous; Conferences; and Photographs.

Regional organization for accrediting colleges universities and secondary schools, includes administrative records and accreditation reports for high schools in Kent, Houghton, Washtenaw, and Wayne counties in Michigan.

The largest part of the record group consists of accreditation reports containing information on schools in the Kent, Houghton, Washtenaw, and Wayne counties in Michigan. Also included in the record group are a number of bound volumes containing information from the proceedings of the North Central Association's annual meeting, as well as a variety of papers and articles relating to the educational issues of the day.

The Northern Michigan Environmental Action Council is a Traverse City-based environmental watchdog group. Members are primarily from a region comprised of five counties in Northwestern Michigan including Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Benzie, Kalkaska, and Antrim counties, although some members who feel a special affinity for the region are from downstate or out of state. The papers document the councilâ??s attention to local environmental concerns and their interactions with various government agencies, corporate entities, and individuals in the name of sound environmental stewardship.

The records of the council are divided into four series, reflecting general areas of interest to the organization: Land Use, Toxic Cleanup Efforts, Transportation, and Board Minutes. In turn, the subseries within these series reflect advocacy efforts or controversies that fall under the general category.

John E. Wilson, of Russell, Kansas, was chaplain of the North Russia Transportation Corps, a unit of the U.S. Army that served in the Murmansk region of Russia from April to July, 1919, during the Allied intervention against the Communist revolutionary government in Russia. Wilson's North Russia Pictures contains about 370 images of the work of the North Russia Transportation Corps. This finding aid describes a series of Wilson's photographs making up portions of three collections at the Bentley Historical Library: John William Grier photograph collection, Frank J. McGrath photograph album, and Fred E. Minard photograph collection

John E. Wilson's "North Russia Pictures" contains about 370 images of the work of the North Russia Transportation Corps. Each photo is numbered on the verso, with the numbers corresponding to Wilson's sales list. This list of photos is copied from Wilson's original sales list. All misspellings are Wilson's. A few numbers are omitted or used more than once. For each picture there is an indication of which collection or collections include the photo. A few of Wilson's pictures are not included in any of the three collections.

The photos document the entire history of the Transportation Corps, from their organization in France, to travel through England and by sea to Russia, service in Russia, and then travel by sea back to France and back to the United States. The last pictures are of the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of France.

The work of the Transportation Corps in Russia is presented in detail, with pictures of patrols, the aftermath of battles, railroad construction and maintenance, camps, and recreational activities. There are many pictures of soldiers, some identified but many unidentified by name. Also pictures of Russian scenery and people.

In the McGrath collection the photos are pasted into an album, so the numbers cannot be seen. The photos are presented in the album in numerical order, with the captions copied from Wilson's sales list. The Grier and Minard collections consist of loose photos, arranged in numerical order.

Northside Presbyterian Church is in partnership with St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, but holds separate services. This record group includes materials of Northside Presbyterian Church only. Included are session minutes, newsletters, church bulletins, and topical files.

The Northside Presbyterian Church Records document the church's activities since 1959. The record group is an ongoing one with the addition of materials (especially newsletters) on a regular basis. The records included consist of session minutes, newsletters, church bulletins, mailings to members, and subject files.

The record group has been divided into three series: Administrative Records, Publication,s and Topical Files.
