Architectural Research
The Architectural Research series (2.0 linear foot, 1932-1983) includes three areas of research. The first area encompasses the University of Michigan's Architectural Research Lab which was begun by C. Theodore Larson. This segment contains general information and a portion of the specific projects conducted at the lab. The second area of the series features architectural research that was not conducted at the University of Michigan. It also includes the influential Larson and Lonberg-Holm publication Planning for Productivity. The third area documents environmental and related research. This area records the effect architecture has on the environment. These environmental concerns include both the natural and built environment.
Architectural Society
The Architectural Society series (0.1 linear feet) consists of the minutes of the society, a University of Michigan organization formed in 1909 and active until 1931. The minutes indicate that the focus of the society's activity was social. However, in addition to sponsoring dances, they appear to have also sponsored lectures by faculty members.

The records of The ARC date primarily from the 1980's until 2007, with some documents from the 1950's through the 1970's. They include meeting minutes, surveys, grant proposals, project documentation, correspondence and publications. The records are arranged into eight series as follows: Board and Governance, Committees, Conferences and Collaborations, Reports and Programs, Publications, Affiliates, and Visual Materials.
Area Centers Material
The Area Centers Material consists of correspondence, memos, and reports related to the university's various area centers from the 1960s through the 1990s. It includes material related to the establishment of the Institute for Foreign Area and International Studies, a university office charged with overseeing the operations of the area centers.

This collection is comprised of programs, newsletters, brochures, clippings, photographs, and other materials relating to Italian American organizations in the Detroit metropolitan area, to celebrations, and to the contributions of individual area Italian Americans.
It also includes photographs depicting Italian-American celebrations and events in Detroit; other photos include Harry Truman and Detroit mayor Louis Miriani at 1959 Labor Day event; also 1957 Labor Day parade.
