Reports
The Reports (3.3 linear feet) series is divided into three subseries, Dow Chemical Company, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Miscellaneous. The Dow Chemical Company subseries contains many different reports documenting the testing of the land and bodies of water surrounding their Midland headquarters. These reports were created in response to pressures from the Loan Tree Council and the EPA to investigate the area surrounding the Dow headquarters. These made note of chemicals found in the Tittabawassee and Saginaw Rivers, as well as the government mandated responsibilities pertaining to the dioxins in the rivers. The EPA subseries contains similar reports documenting the state of the environment and the Dow factory, dating back to the 1980s, but also materials documenting the EPA's responses and actions to the Dow dioxin spill. The Miscellaneous subseries contains collected reports from other organizations such as the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. These cover the dioxins in the Tittabawassee River, but also the quality of water in the Saginaw and Midland areas in general.
