Background

Scope and Content:

This collection is made up of 0.8 linear feet of photographs and 0.1 linear feet of other related material. It contains three series: Family Photographs, Studio Photographs, and Other Material. Both the dated and undated photographs cover the period from 1900 to 1930 but most of them are undated.

Biographical / Historical:

Herman A. Huhn, born around 1892, was the son of Ann Arbor constable, Frederick J. Huhn, who died on March 27, 1931. In 1908, he married Ethelyn M. Maddox of Ypsilanti, who died in the late 1920's. After 1928 she disappears from the city directories. They had one son Robert, who was killed in World War II, and two daughters. Herman Huhn retired from the Ann Arbor News as a printer and linotype operator, in 1957 or 1958 and died in 1976 or 1977.

This collection was donated by Martha and Einar Kvaran (donor no. 8960 ) in June 2002.
