Biographical / Historical:

The Lyra Gesang Verein (or Lyra Gesangverein) was founded in the later half of the 1800s by Ann Arbor, Michigan, musician Reuben Kempf (1859-1945). Kempf created the musical group in accordance with the wishes of the University of Michigan President James B. Angell. By 1950, H.W. (Hod) Campbell was president of the group, referred to as the Lyra Male Chorus.
