Scope and Content:: Collection contains research materials collected and used by Calkins for her research on the history of diversity at the University of Michigan, and includes copies of documents and publications mentioning diversity themes as well as articles and reports based on the research.
Biographical / Historical:: Calkins, a Fulbright Award winner with an M.A. and Ph.D., was engaged as a researcher by the University of Michigan to investigate historical origins of diversity on campus when affirmative action policies in admissions were being challenged in the late 1990s.
Acquisition Information:: Donated by Laura M. Calkins (donor no. 10224 ) in June 2009.
