Planning includes projects in which Ahern played a planner role, although he also created architectural drawings for a number of the projects. As they were during Ahern's life, these files are organized by geographic location and project. Of particular interest are a thorough 1975 impact report on the proposed Ann Arbor Airport, a "new town" planned for Superior Township in 1964, a 15-year-plus effort to recreate a wedge of land at the corner of Washtenaw and Forest Avenues in Ann Arbor, and Ahern's writings on Ann Arbor parking issues beginning in the late 1970s.
